Just Pass the Bottle is a cowl that knit in the round and utilizes a simple horse shoe lace motif for the main body. It was designed to use less that a full skein of yarn and includes instructions for both a small and a large version, but it is very easy to adapt to any size that you want!
Some time ago I was knitting a sample for another project and the yarn that I had chosen was just not working out. I was lamenting to my friend that all of the yarn is my stash was ear marked for other projects so I would have to go and find something else, when she disappeared into her craft room and produced a perfect cake of “A Nice Chianti” on Signature Sock yarn from On the Round and said “Use this.” She thought that she needed two skeins for a project but only needed one. Happy Day, right? Well, I took it home and cast it on and about half way through the project I could tell that my usage was way off so I asked her to double check that it had been a full skein and sure enough, she had used about a quarter of it on another project and forgot. Saddened, I set it aside and found a different yarn for that project. But I told my friend that she wasn’t getting “A Nice Chianti” back because I was going to knit a cowl with a horseshoe lace motif, to look like wine glasses, and call it Just Pass The Bottle…for those days when you are not quite working with a full skein. I had a skein of “Vineyard” on Everyday Fingering from the same dyer in my stash and I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to follow a theme, so I worked the pattern out in a larger size too.

Finished Measurements
Small has a 20” top circumference (24” circumference at the bottom) and is 18” from cast on edge to cast off edge.
Large has a 50” circumference and is 8” from cast on edge to cast off edge.

The purple sample used about 300 yards of On The Round Signature Sock in “A Nice Chianti” and the green sample used about 360 yards of On The Round Everyday Fingering in “Vineyard”

US size 4/3.5 mm (18” or 24”circular cord)

This pattern has been test knit and edited and should be error free but if you find an error that I missed please contact me! I will work to fix it as soon as humanly possible!
