Introduction to Basic Sciences in Nuclear Medicine by G.S. Pant, V.J. Vipin First Edition 2023
The book has 15 chapters, divided into seven parts. The first part is devoted to basic atomic and nuclear physics, interaction of radiation and radioactivity. The second part deals with the radiation detectors, in-vitro and in-vivo detection of radiation with quality control procedures for the equipment involved. This includes the radionuclide dose calibrator, well counter and thyroid probe. The third part with three chapters deals with the nuclear medicine imaging (planar gamma camera and SPECT imaging, Image filtering and PET imaging). The fourth part of the book includes the radiopharmaceuticals in brief and their quality control procedures. This chapter also describes the quality control procedure for 18F-FDG in a cyclotron quality control laboratory. Fifth part is on imaging protocols with three chapters on PET/CT, SPECT/CT, and planar gamma camera imaging. Sixth part has four chapters namely, Internal dosimetry, statistics, cyclotron and compartment model. The seventh part of the book is devoted to radiobiology and radiation safety as is essential in nuclear medicine. CONTENTS - Part I – Basic Physics in Nuclear Medicine 1.
