The MSV, or Masoretic-Syriac Version, is the Bible according to the Masoretic Text and Syriac Peshitta. This work is based off of the 1917 Jewish Publication Society's Tanakh and James Murdock's translation of the Peshitta New Testament. Apart from over a hundred other revisions, this Bible contains the Lord's Name as Jehovah restored in over 5,000 places including the New Testament.

This edition of the MSV is in parallel with the Bible in Basic English, a translation that only utilized 1000 English words. Because this translation method is so different from that used to produce the MSV, the BBE can be useful for seeing several of the unique aspects of the MSV without having to open a completely different Bible. It can also be treated as a commentary, or as a tool for understanding some of the Old English present in the MSV.
