Little Thump’s Adventures — Early Learning Activity Collection
A little bunny, a big adventure, and so many wonderful ways to learn! 🐰❤️
Bring Little Thump’s woodland adventure to life through play, conversation, creativity, exploration and hands-on learning!
Designed with Kindergarten learners in mind, this collection extends Little Thump’s Adventures beyond story time with engaging activities that can be enjoyed in the classroom, at learning centres, in small groups, or at home with families and caregivers.
Children will reconnect with Little Thump and his woodland friends as they explore important early-learning skills while discovering the value of courage, kindness, friendship, believing in themselves and trying new things.
Each activity has been thoughtfully created to encourage curiosity, build confidence and provide meaningful opportunities for children to learn through play.
Learning goals and activities include:
- Early literacy and oral language through storytelling, vocabulary, discussion and read-and-write-the-room activities
- Story comprehension, sequencing and retelling as children revisit Little Thump’s adventure
- Early math skills through counting, ten frames, tally marks, sorting and patterning
- Positional language through exploring concepts such as in, out, behind and in front
- Fine-motor development through colouring, printing, cutting, tracing, pasting and creative crafts
- Science and discovery through butterfly life cycles and woodland-inspired exploration
- Sensory learning through hands-on experiences and nature-inspired activities
- Social-emotional learning through identifying feelings, positive affirmations and building self-confidence
- Problem solving and critical thinking through observation, prediction and making connections
- Music, movement and creativity through songs, imaginative play and artistic expression
- Kindness, empathy and friendship through meaningful conversations inspired by Little Thump’s experiences
The activities are designed to complement Kindergarten curriculum learning while recognizing that young children learn best when they can talk, move, explore, create and play.
Perfect for school AND home
Educators can use the collection for whole-group discussions, literacy and math centres, guided learning, assessment opportunities, story extensions and independent exploration.
Families and caregivers can enjoy the activities together at home, encouraging children to share their ideas, practise new skills and continue Little Thump’s adventure beyond the pages of the book.
Many activities can be adapted to suit different developmental stages, allowing children to express their learning through conversation, drawing, movement, hands-on exploration or early reading and writing.
Most importantly, Little Thump reminds children that being brave doesn’t mean never feeling afraid. It means believing in yourself and finding the courage to try.
Read it. Retell it. Count it. Explore it. Feel it. Create it. Be brave and make it your own!
