This is the official text for the lessons of Ustaadh Moosaa Richardson at Masjid Ibad-ur-Rahman in Marietta, Georgia for the weekend of Safar 27-29, 1444 (September 23-25, 2022) in shaa' Allah.

These passages are from the book, ad-Duroos al-Muhimmah li 'Aammatil-Ummah (Important Lessons For Every Muslim), by the noble imaam, Shaykh 'Abdul-'Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allah have Mercy on him). Lesson Two: The Pillars of Islam

[This includes] clarifying the five pillars of Islam; the first and greatest of them is the testimony that none have the right to be worshipped other than Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, including an explanation of its meanings, along with clarifying the conditions of [the testimony that] "None have the right to be worshipped other than Allah."

Its meaning is that "Laa-ilaaha" negates [the right of] all things worshipped besides Allah, and "ill-Allah" affirms that worship is [rightfully] due to Allah alone, without any partner. The conditions of "Laa-ilaaha ill-Allaah" are: [1] Knowledge, as opposed to ignorance; [2] certainty, as opposed to doubt; [3] Sincerity, as opposed to shirk; [4] Truthfulness, as opposed to lying; [5] Love, as opposed to hatred; [6] Submission, as opposed to abandonment; [7] Compliance, as opposed to rejection; [8] Disbelief in all things worshipped besides Allah.

These have been brought together in the following two lines of poetry:

Knowledge, certainty, sincerity, your truthfulness, along with,
Love, submission, and compliance to it.

An eighth one added: Disbelief from you in all things,
Besides the true God, among all things worshipped.

[This must be paired] with a clarification of the testimony that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, which requires: [1] Believing in all things he reported, [2] obeying him in all things he ordered, [3] avoiding all things he forbade and warned against, and [4] that Allah is not worshipped with anything other than what Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and His Messenger (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) have legislated.
