Possum on the Keys (Marimba or Xylophone, and Piano
This piece can be played on marimba or xylophone. A transposed xylophone part is also included.
The possum is an Australian native animal. It is a nocturnal animal that has adapted well to city life, being quite happy living in the roofs of houses. This piece represents the possum creeping about at night time looking for food. It is inspired by an experience I had with a baby possum one night, when I woke up to the strings on my grand piano being played. The young possum had come down my chimney and was looking for an escape from the rain. It was also fairly unhappy with being placed outside again.
Instrumentation: Xylophone or Marimba, and Piano
