The Akbari study, published in early March, shed light on over 9 thousand ancient DNA samples. Some were resequenced with a higher depth, improving coverage, some samples were entirely new, introduced for the first time. I40330 is an ancient DNA sample published in the Akbari study.

I40330 is likely a person from Middle/Lower Egypt with substantial ancestry from the Levant and Northern Mesopotamia/Anatolia, likely introduced during the Middle Bronze Age or through the Hyksos period. G25 identifies this sample as being closest to Coptic Egyptians. This is important. This leads me to believe that we are dealing with a Bronze Age or an Early Iron Age sample, one that lacks the recent excess Sub-Saharan African admixture that non-Coptic Egyptians have. Another clue that points to this conclusion is this sample’s affinity to Third Intermediate Period Egyptians.
