When Mercy Costs Everything (Intermediate Creative Writing)

What happens when grief meets an enemy who can't be stopped? This collaborative creative writing unit asks small groups to build a story about a powerful figure whose companion is dying—and the antagonist responsible. As anger takes over, the protagonist confronts their enemy, but the companion intervenes, urging mercy over vengeance. Working in roles (Character Designer, Lore Master, Plotter, Writer), students create a time-traveling hero, a complex antagonist, a beloved companion, and a high-stakes setting where every choice matters. Includes an icebreaker, character creation sheets for the hero, antagonist, and companion, setting guidelines, plot outline tools, and a full teacher's guide with rubrics and pacing support. Perfect for intermediate creative writing, workshops, or sub plans. No prep stress—just print and go.
