A 6-Week Neuro-Affirming SEL Journey

Empower your learners to understand their unique "internal compass" with this structured, six-week intervention. Designed specifically for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), this kit moves away from compliance-based models and focuses instead on self-awareness, sensory regulation, and functional independence.

Our Philosophy

  • Neuro-Affirming: We don't "fix" the child; we help them understand how their brain works and how to advocate for their needs.
  • Safety Over Seconds: We prioritise emotional safety and co-regulation, recognising that a brain in "Red Alert" (survival mode) cannot learn.
  • Predictable Horizons: Using consistent visual structures, we create a "safe harbour" for learning to help overcome the hurdles of transition and uncertainty.

What’s Inside the 6-Week Map?

Each week is color-coded and builds from internal awareness to external action:

  1. Week 1: The Emotion Explorer – Building a shared vocabulary by learning to name feelings and recognise them through "Interoception" (the ability to feel what is happening inside the body).
  2. Week 2: My Engine Room – Introduction to the "Zones of Regulation." Students learn to check their "internal engine" and find tools to stay in the Green Zone.
  3. Week 3: My Super Senses – Becoming "Sensory Detectives" to identify "Glimmers" (things that feel good) and signals they want to turn down.
  4. Week 4: The Social Signal – Exploring communication styles and "Social Battery" levels, emphasizing that there are many valid ways to interact.
  5. Week 5: My Planning Powers – Breaking big "mountain" jobs into small, easy steps using Now/Next/Then structures to increase independence.
  6. Week 6: The Power of 'Yet' – Shifting from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. We learn that mistakes help our brains grow and that "I can't" just means "not... yet".
