Finding the Names — Installment 79 (Roll 10, 1844) — FREE

Installment 79 of Finding the Names continues Roll 10 — New Orleans Inward Manifests, 1844 (National Archives Microfilm Publication M1895, Roll 10, NAID 173900399), images 121–240: 442 people on 61 manifests, transcribed name by name from the original records at the National Archives. The project now stands at 50,917 entries, 50,101 of them named.

Inside: the barque Parthian's 81 from Norfolk — her big sheet was photographed twice on the film, and the second photograph carries her oath and permission, "Eighty one Persons"; she is transcribed once, from both, with two infants written small on their mothers' lines standing in their mothers' notes. The ship Tippecanoe files three manifests for one sailing, with Rosetta Harrison and Mary Anne Yeates struck through and marked "Not sent." The brig Victorine's 60 from Baltimore mostly carry full surnames, including Judy Cooper the younger, aged four weeks. Henry, 75, crosses alone on the steamer Sun Dale. Eleven people surnamed Jackson are consigned to Washington Jackson & Co. of New Orleans. An outward manifest and a seven-year-old shipped entirely alone are printed where the film keeps them.
