Seven Generations — Jaya Khoobsurat

Written after driving through Sydney and seeing graffiti spread across the city's concrete landscape, Seven Generations grew from a deeper question: where can young people express what they are feeling, and what happens if the whole world becomes a concrete jungle?

The song reflects on our responsibility to protect the natural environment—not only for ourselves, but for the animals and other creatures that depend upon it for survival. Originally released on Coloured Wings (1998), Seven Generations asks us to think beyond the present and consider the kind of world we leave for the generations who follow.
