Worked in a dense DK weight yarn with sumptuous drape, this all-over cable pattern is worked over simple columns of ribs. With 3/4 length sleeves and an open front, Ridge and Valley has quickly become my go-to for three-season indoor wear.
Ridge and Valley is knit flat and seamed. Stitches are picked up for the faux button band, which does not overlap. The hem hits at the hip, and the slightly dropped sleeves are three-quarter length.
For the best fit, this pattern is sized based on your upper chest measurement, which is the body’s circumference beneath the arms and above the bust.
To fit upper chest: 32.75 (36, 39.25 ,42.5, 45.75) (49, 52.25, 55.5, 58.75) inches / 81.5 (89.5, 98 ,106, 114) (122, 130.5, 138.5, 146.5) cm
Instructions are given in the pattern for measuring your upper chest and using it to choose a size. Ridge and Valley is intended to be worn open with a relaxed fit, and with a finished width approximately 1-3 inches (2.5-5.5 cm) greater than your actual bust circumference. The intended positive ease in the upper arm is 1.5-2 inches (4-18 cm). A schematic with final measurements and more info on choosing a size can be downloaded here.
Finished width: 34 (38, 42.25, 46, 50) (53.75, 58, 62, 66) inches / 85 (94.5, 105.5, 115, 125) (134.5, 145, 155, 164.5) cm
Upper arm circumference: 11.75 (12.75, 13.75, 15, 16) (17.5, 19, 20.5, 21.25) inches / 29.5 (32, 34.5, 37, 40) (43.5, 47.5, 51.5, 53) cm
