First timer socks

Say hello to your new favourite socks. 

I designed these originally to feature in a sock knitters kit. It turned out to be a best seller on Etsy. I thought I'd publish it as a standalone pattern too as it makes a great project. You don't have to be a first time sock knitter to enjoy the straightforward cuff down construction. The heel is worked using increases and decreases rather than a traditional sock flap. 

When tested, test knitters actually said that they enjoyed making an unconventional heel! 

I had 15 knitters of all abilities test this pattern and everyone successfully made a pair of socks! A sock beginner could do this as I have catered for magic loop as well as DPN users. 

You will need: 

100g of 4ply sock yarn (400m per 100g) such as WYS signature 4ply (main photo is Bright Side)

 Darning needle

4 Stitch markers

2.5mm circular (80cm cable for magic loop) or DPNs or size needed for gauge.


Gauge: 

35 sts / 28 rows 10cm (4”) using a 2.5mm needle. 


Leg/foot circumference: 

Size 1: 7 in/17cm

Size 2: 8 in/20cm

Size 3: 9 in/23cm

Suitable for adult sizes ranging from UK4 to UK12.
