Sponsor a Ukrainian English Class
You can support a student for 1 class or for 1 year! You decide.
Why sponsor a Ukrainian student?
Since the outbreak of war, I have been teaching English to Ukrainian orphans/refugees free of charge.
These lessons provide practical language skills that help students communicate, study, and rebuild their lives with dignity.
This page gives you the option to support that work directly.
Your contribution helps cover:
- Teaching time
- Lesson preparation and materials
- Online platform and class resources
All lessons remain free for the students.
There are no services or products provided in exchange for sponsorship.
This is a voluntary contribution that allows these classes to continue sustainably.
Thank you for supporting education, opportunity, and resilience through learning.
Course curriculum
This programme is designed to give Ukrainian students a strong, practical command of English, aligned with Cambridge English standards and real-world use.
Cambridge English Preparation
Lessons are structured around the core skills and language systems required for Cambridge English exams (A2–B2 focus, adaptable by level), including:
- Grammar accuracy and range
- Functional vocabulary for everyday and academic use
- Exam-style tasks and question types
Pronunciation & British Accent
Students develop clear, intelligible British pronunciation, with focus on:
- Individual sounds and word stress
- Sentence stress and intonation
- Common pronunciation problems for Ukrainian learners
The aim is clarity and confidence, not artificial accent imitation.
Listening Skills
Students practise understanding natural spoken English, including:
- Everyday conversations
- Instructions, explanations, and short talks
- Key information, gist, and detail listening
Listening materials are graded, realistic, and relevant.
Speaking Skills
Speaking is central to every lesson. Students practise:
- Everyday communication and social English
- Expressing opinions, agreement, and disagreement
- Speaking with confidence, accuracy, and fluency
Emphasis is placed on real communication, not memorised answers.
Reading Skills
Students learn to:
- Understand short and longer texts
- Develop reading strategies (skimming, scanning, inference)
- Build vocabulary through context
Texts reflect real English usage, not artificial exam language.
Writing Skills
Students are guided to write clearly and accurately, including:
- Sentences and short paragraphs
- Emails, messages, and basic formal writing
- Organisation, clarity, and correctness
Accuracy and usefulness are prioritised over complexity.
