Understanding and Coping with Guilt & Shame (2 activities)
This download includes 4 printable pages and 2 activities designed for group counseling or individual reflection on the topics of guilt and shame.
- The first two pages serve as an informative handout for clients to read and reflect on. After reading, pause to discuss and clarify key concepts such as:
- What is guilt?
- What is shame?
- What values or standards influence your own feelings of guilt and shame?
- Following the reading, clients engage in a reframing activity to challenge shame-based thoughts and develop healthier, more compassionate perspectives.
- The final two pages feature an interactive activity with thoughtful questions. These questions are meant to be printed, cut out, and placed in a hat or basket. Each client draws one question to answer aloud, fostering open discussion and deeper understanding.
This versatile activity helps clients explore their emotions, encourages compassionate self-reflection, and supports meaningful group conversation.
