Lego Technic 42099 Wild Beast MOC

Rebuild your Lego Technic "4x4 X-treme Off-Roader" set 42099 into this "Wild Beast" racing buggy with amazing RC performance!

Functions:

- Remote-controlled drive and steering

- Live, rear axle suspension

Worth mentioning aspects:

- It's rear-wheel drive with a gear ratio of 1:1.67 and the two xl-motors drive one wheel each.

- The front wheels have a positive caster angle for a steering with increased precision.

- I chose not to use the planetary wheel hubs available on the set for two reasons, they would add complexity to the build, and most importantly, despite being lubricated on the inside, they still create a bit of drag if used for example on the front wheels, which have no traction and I really wanted to avoid all kinds of drag or friction.

- Mostly, decent ground clearance (4 studs), except for two specific points (which are 2.5 studs above the ground).

- There is a button on the cabin to turn the PU hub on.

- Batteries can be easily swapped from below the car

Designer notes:

This MOC was created from the ground up to be fast and the chassis was designed with very specific build choices to accommodate speed.

I believe this is the fastest alternative model you'll find for this set.

- Real pictures are included whenever there is the need to see in detail.

- Needs a custom profile from the Powered Up app to be controlled. Detailed steps are provided within the MOC building instructions for this as well.
