Lego Technic 42099 Jeep Off-Roader MOC

Rebuild your Lego Technic set 42099 "4x4 X-treme Off-Roader" into a Jeep-like Off-Roader as an alternative model using my digital building instructions. No additional parts needed!

Believe it or not, this specific Jeep-like Rat Rod was the inspiration for my MOC design.

The initial idea was to build a similar rat rod MOC, but I realized it would have very little ground clearance, which is not good for RC cars, so I changed direction halfway through the build to a proper Jeep-like off-roader.

Looking at my Jeep LEGO Technic MOC it's noticeable that it still loosely resembles the source model shapes.

Functions:

- Remote-controlled 4x4 drive and steering

- Pendular suspension on the front axle

- Live axle suspension in the rear

Worth mentioning aspects:

- It's 4x4 with one XL motor driving the front wheels through a differential, and another XL motor driving the rear wheels through another differential.

- The L motor is dedicated to controlling the steering.

- The final gear ratio is 1.4:1

- Decent ground clearance for off-roading, 4 studs at the front axle, 5 studs at the rear axle.

- The planetary wheel hubs are not used on this MOC.

- The Powered Up hub is freely accessible in the rear.

- Batteries can be easily swapped without disassembling anything, just pick the hub up, swap, and place it back again.

- Uses the same Control+ profile as the set 42099 original model.
