William James Glackens: (1870, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – May 22, 1938, Westport, Connecticut) was an American artist and illustrator, a realist, one of the founders of the School of Trash Cans.Features of the artist William James Glackens: His early works are characterized by pronounced realism, muted dark tones and expression. Throughout his life, he preferred to depict the simple life of citizens, their recreation and everyday life. He devoted many years to illustration, worked in newspapers and magazines in Philadelphia and New York. In recent years, he has been influenced by Renoir, which is reflected in the special color of his works and the choice of themes: portraits, and a little later still lifes.
