First Bell Cardigan

This cozy cardigan will keep out the chill as your little one looks for hijinks on the high seas – or in your local playground! The one-piece construction requires no seaming and incorporates lots of little details to keep the knitting interesting – short row sleeve caps, integrated side ‘seams’, and a knit-on applied button band.

The sweater comes in 5 sizes ranging from 22” - 30” (56 - 75 cm); approximate ages 1 to 8 years. Choose a size with 1-2” (2.5-5 cm) of ease.

Materials Needed:

• DK weight yarn, approximately 338 (439, 548, 667, 759) m / 370 (480, 600, 730, 830) yards.
• 3.5 mm / US 4 circular needles, 60 cm / 24 inches long, for button bands.
• 4 mm / US 6 circular needles, 60 to 80 cm / 24 to 32 inches long, for body.
• 4 mm / US 6 Double Pointed Needles for sleeves or use a long circular and magic loop.
• One additional 4 mm / US 6 needle for working a Three-needle Bind Off.
• 5 (5, 7, 7, 9) buttons, approximately 1 cm / 0.5 inches in diameter.
• A tapestry needle or crochet hook for weaving in ends.
• 4 ring-style stitch markers plus 5 to 7 locking stitch markers.
• 2 large and 2 small stitch holders.
