21 Nature Activity Cards — Facilitator Edition (Ages 2–5)
Most activity cards tell you what to do. These tell you why it works, and what to do when it doesn't.
A dysregulated two-year-old cannot identify a leaf. They cannot take turns, follow a two-step instruction, or notice anything at all — the thinking part of the brain has gone offline. Every card here names its regulation goal before its content goal, because that is the order children actually learn in.
WHAT YOU GET
21 cards, facilitator front and reverse
The front carries why this matters, how to set it up, and the facilitation sequence. The reverse carries what children are building, four learning objectives, what you need, and a facilitator note — the thing you wish someone had told you the first time you ran it.
Print-ready at 4×6 inches
Laid out two-up on US Letter with dashed cut lines. A real deck off a home or office printer, no special stock and no trip to a print shop.
The full range of a session
Open & Explore, Loose Parts Sorting, Carry & Transport, Texture Investigation, Magnify & Observe, Build & Balance, Small World Building, Nature Patterns, Gentle Hands Practice, Sound & Stillness, Collection Curation, Care & Closure Ritual, Wait & Watch, Heavy Work Helpers, Nature Breathing Buddies, Stone Studies, 5-Minute Outdoor Reset, Nature Sound Orchestra, Smell Walk Adventure, Measuring with Nature, Nature Journaling.
Regulation cards and content cards in one deck
Heavy work, breathing, stillness, and reset cards sit alongside the pattern, measurement, and journaling cards — so you can reach for the right one based on the child in front of you rather than the plan you wrote yesterday.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Forest school and nature preschool programs. Early childhood educators who take children outside. Park and nature centre staff running family programming. Homeschool cooperatives with mixed-age groups.
WHAT YOU DO NOT NEED
No kit. No proprietary box, no branded materials, no subscription. Everything the cards call for is gathered from the ground, a garden, or a charity shop.
WHO THIS IS NOT FOR
If you want printable worksheets or activities that produce a craft to send home, this will disappoint you. There is no product at the end of these sessions. The point is the practice of noticing, and returning.
WANT THE SESSION PLANS TOO?
The Educator Bundle adds four complete outdoor session plans and the two-page Gather Your Own Collection sheet, which lists everything the cards call for and where to find it, plus the six safety rules that matter with children under five. $59, or $39 during launch.
