7. DDR-FOR-007 — Formative Evaluation, Expert Review, Usability Testing and Iterative Refinement
Description:
This Master Prompt would focus on evaluating the developing artifact while modification is still possible. It would guide researchers through expert review, walkthroughs, one-to-one evaluation, small-group evaluation, usability testing, user feedback, technical testing, content review, observation, prototype trials and other formative-evaluation approaches appropriate to the artifact.
A major emphasis would be placed on treating evaluation as an iterative design-development-revision cycle, rather than conducting a single evaluation only after development has finished. Researchers would identify problems, classify their severity, trace feedback to specific artifact components, decide which recommendations should be accepted or rejected, document revisions, and determine whether additional evaluation cycles are required. Related literature demonstrates staged evaluation through expert review, one-to-one testing, small-group evaluation and field testing, as well as continuous formative evaluation during development.
