Competing Spires - Greenock Churches: A Record
This book looks at the many church buildings that have been erected in Greenock over the last 500 years. It also highlights some of the ministers who made their mark in the community. Greenock was a hotbed of religious discussion, especially in the 19th century. The many dissensions and arguments within the Church of Scotland, led to new churches being built, all of which have left a particular mark in the architectural landscape of the town. Secularisation has brought these buildings and their purpose to the fore once more. Before they all disappear this book serves as a record of their existence and original purpose.
