Arlesford is a small market town in Hampshire, England. The town centre is the perfect setting for ladies who lunch; Georgian buildings are filled with pavement cafes and boutique shops. And when the weather turns chilly, what better thing to wear than this mosaic knit cowl?

This pattern uses the technique of mosaic knitting. As it is worked in the round, all rounds are right side. It is worked by alternating the colours – working one round in each colour. On a main colour round, all main coloured stitches are knit and all contrast coloured stitches are slipped. On a contrast colour round, all contrast coloured stitches are knit and all main coloured stitches are slipped.

I used Stylecraft Special DK, but would encourage you choose your own yarn. There are many different colour combinations possible. You could consider two solid colours, or a gradual colour change yarn. Any yarn fibre should be suitable; a softer yarn will yield a drapier cowl. Some fluffy yarns may obscure the colourwork.

Further advice on adapting the pattern to your needs, and some colour inspiration can be found on my blog.
