The Sixth Ghost: ESL Partner Speaking Mystery (B1–B2)
Five friends went to the school Halloween party dressed as sheet ghosts. In their group photo there are six ghosts, and nobody remembers the sixth one. Who is it?
HOW IT WORKS
This is a partner speaking mystery for pairs. Student A has the party photo: what each of the six ghosts is wearing and holding. Student B has the five friends' messages and a list of four other people at the party. Neither sheet solves the mystery alone: A has no names and B has no photo. Students keep their sheets secret, ask and answer questions in their own words, compare what they find out and match each friend to a ghost and then work out who the sixth ghost really is. The answer is fixed and fully explained in the answer key.
LEVEL AND LANGUAGE
Written for English learners at CEFR B1–B2, grades 5–8. Language focus: describing people (tall, short, wearing black boots, holding a mug) and deduction (It can't be Leo because … So it must be …).
PREP AND TIMING
Print page 2 for each Student A and page 3 for each Student B. Keep pages 1 and 4 for yourself. No cutting and no extra materials. About 25 minutes.

Spooky, funny and school-friendly: no blood, no violence, no frightening images.
