The Series

All four Practical Allyship pocket guides.

Four pocket guides, one shared language

The four Practical Allyship pocket guides, together: Racism, Equity & Cultural Safety; Power, Privilege & Cultural Safety; Everyday Critical Self-Reflection; and Cultural Safety Essentials. Small, practical moves for the whole team, from new starter to executive. Each guide follows the same shape: what it means, why it matters, and what to say or do, so it’s easy to reach for in the moment. The focus throughout is cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, judged by the person on the receiving end, never claimed by us. Buy the four together and save. Held in the hand, practised in the everyday.

The four pocket guides together, saving A$14.97 on the single prices. For one worker, start to finish.

How it teaches. Reflective practice: turning the lens on your own culture, assumptions and the power you carry. Coaching: one small move named out loud, "This week I will". Action learning at work: practised on shift, not in a workshop. Signs of movement, not a test. The guides are not an accredited or assessed course.

Where I stand. I write this as a white practitioner, and I'll say so plainly. Not by way of apology, but as a journeyman: still on the road, doing my own work through personal and critical reflection. Cultural safety, or kawa whakaruruhau, was named and developed in Aotearoa New Zealand by Irihapeti Ramsden, a Māori nurse and educator. Her call wasn't to learn more about other people. It was to turn the lens back on ourselves. And whether care feels safe, she said, is decided by the person receiving it, never by us. What cultural safety is remains for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to define. My part, and yours, is the reflection.
