SOUTHERN RHODESIA. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY BULLETIN + No. 5 is a rare and valuable publication that provides a detailed account of the economic geology of the country around Gatooma, a town in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). The bulletin was written by A. E. V. Zealley and B. Lightfoot, two geologists who surveyed the area in 1912 and 1913, and covers topics such as the geological structure, stratigraphy, mineralogy, petrology, ore deposits, mining history and methods of the region. The bulletin also includes maps, diagrams, photographs and tables to illustrate the geological features and mineral resources of Gatooma.

This bulletin is a reprint of part of Bulletin No. 2 by H. B. Maufe (Director), which was published in 1914 and contained two other sections on the association of gold deposits with acid igneous rocks in Southern Rhodesia and on some new occurrences of platinum group metals in Southern Rhodesia121.

This bulletin is a must-have for collectors, historians, researchers and enthusiasts of Southern Rhodesian geology and mining. It offers a wealth of information and insights into the geological setting and economic potential of one of the most important gold-producing areas in Southern Rhodesia at that time.
