Children’s Confidence Mind Map Pack + Interactive My Project
CHILDREN’S CONFIDENCE MIND MAP PACK + INTERACTIVE MY PROJECT
Printable confidence activities • Interactive visual mind maps • Visualisation • Feelings check-ins • Strengths • Goals • Self-belief
Help children recognise their strengths, notice what they have already achieved, explore their feelings and build a growing picture of who they are, what matters to them and what they want to try next.
This colourful confidence toolkit combines a 14-page printable Confidence Mind Map Pack with Interactive My Project — an 8-map visual confidence and self-discovery tool for children.
Children can use it in different ways depending on what works for them that day:
Print it. Use it interactively. Create a visualisation wall. Take favourite pages with them. Come back and add more as they grow.
It is particularly suited to children who engage better with visual activities, mind maps, short prompts and choice than with long written worksheets.
TWO WAYS TO EXPLORE CONFIDENCE
1. PRINTABLE CONFIDENCE MIND MAP PACK
A colourful 14-page printable activity pack covering confidence, strengths, achievements, bravery, safety, support, happiness and future thinking.
Includes:
• My Confidence Mind Map
• Why I Am Amazing
• My Safe Place
• Things I’m Good At
• Things I’ve Done That Were Hard
• My Brave Mind Map
• People in My Corner
• My Future Me
• My Happy Stuff
• My Favourite Things
• When I Need a Confidence Boost
• My Confidence Has Grown
• Confidence Mind Map Colouring Page
• Spot the Difference Activity
Children can write, draw, doodle, colour or use just a few words.
There are no perfect answers and no pressure to complete everything.
The pack itself covers a wide range of confidence-building themes, from identifying strengths and supportive people to recognising difficult things a child has already managed and imagining future possibilities.
2. INTERACTIVE MY PROJECT
My Project gives children another way to explore themselves using colourful interactive visual maps.
The child can choose where they want to begin rather than working through activities in a fixed order.
8 INTERACTIVE MAPS
• This Is Me
• Things I’m Good At
• My People
• My Feelings
• Things I’ve Done Well
• Things I Want to Try
• Goals & Dreams
• My Next Steps
Together they help children explore:
Strengths • Feelings • Relationships • Achievements • Interests • Goals • Confidence • Next Steps
This makes My Project a substantial confidence and self-discovery tool in its own right — and a powerful companion to the printable activities.
NOTICE HOW THEY FEEL BEFORE & AFTER
The interactive maps include a simple before-and-after feelings check-in.
Before beginning, the child can notice how they feel.
Afterwards, they can check in again.
There is no score to achieve and no suggestion that they should suddenly feel better.
It simply creates an opportunity to notice:
Has anything shifted?
Do I feel clearer?
Do I feel the same?
Did thinking about this bring something up?
This can be especially useful in pastoral support, counselling, mentoring, one-to-one work, SEND support and classroom wellbeing sessions, where an adult may want to understand how a child is experiencing an activity without relying on lots of verbal explanation.
CREATE A CONFIDENCE & VISUALISATION WALL
One of my favourite ways to use the resource is to turn completed mind maps into a personal visualisation wall.
Print and display the pages that feel most important to that child:
• Things I’m good at
• People who believe in me
• Things I’ve already achieved
• Things I’ve done that were hard
• Things I want to try
• Goals and dreams
• My next steps
• Things that help me feel confident
Use them together on a:
Bedroom wall • Study wall • Confidence board • Visualisation board • Calm corner • Home education space • Pastoral room • Wellbeing area
Instead of completing a confidence activity and putting it away, children can keep positive evidence about themselves visible.
They can add drawings, photos, certificates, sticky notes or new achievements around their maps and let the display grow with them.
CARRY YOUR CONFIDENCE WITH YOU
The printable format also makes it easy to choose particular pages and take them wherever they are useful.
A child might keep a completed confidence page:
• in a school bag
• inside a folder
• in a home education portfolio
• beside their bed
• in a calm-down kit
• in a pastoral or counselling folder
• when travelling
• on holiday
• during transitions or changes
• when staying away from home
Think of it as a way to carry some of their confidence with them — a visual reminder of their strengths, people, achievements and things that help.
WHEN A CHILD IS STRUGGLING AT HOME OR SCHOOL
Sometimes a child cannot easily answer:
“What’s wrong?”
A visual prompt can give them somewhere else to begin.
They might start with:
My Feelings
My People
My Safe Place
Things I’m Good At
People in My Corner
Things I’ve Done That Were Hard
This can help open gentle conversations about:
• what feels difficult
• what is going well
• where they feel safest
• who they trust
• what makes things easier
• what they are proud of
• what they need more of
• what they would like to change or try next
That makes the toolkit useful when a child is struggling with confidence at home, finding school difficult, experiencing change, feeling stuck or simply needing help to express themselves.
GREAT FOR NEURODIVERGENT & VISUAL THINKERS
The resource may be particularly helpful for children who prefer:
• visual information
• mind maps rather than long worksheets
• shorter prompts
• colourful organisation
• choosing where to begin
• seeing ideas spatially
• working on one area at a time
• returning to activities instead of finishing everything at once
This can make it a useful option for neurodivergent children, visual learners and children who find conventional written reflection difficult or unengaging.
GREAT FOR
Parents & carers
Use it for relaxed conversations at home, confidence building or creating a visualisation wall.
Teachers & teaching assistants
Use individual maps for confidence work, wellbeing activities, reflection and one-to-one support.
Pastoral & SEND teams
Use visual prompts to help children communicate strengths, feelings, support needs and next steps.
Counsellors & support workers
Use the maps as gentle conversation starters and visual reflection activities.
Home education families
Use individual pages when they feel useful, build them into wellbeing work or display completed maps as part of a child's learning space.
Children themselves
Choose a map, explore it, print favourite pages and return as things change.
BUILD A PICTURE OVER TIME
Confidence is not something a child either “has” or “doesn't have”.
It changes.
New strengths appear.
Hard things become easier.
New people become important.
New goals develop.
Things they once struggled with become evidence of what they can now handle.
That is why both parts of this toolkit are designed to be returned to.
A child can look back and think:
“I couldn't do that before.”
“I kept going.”
“I know who helps me.”
“I've learned something.”
“This is what I want to try next.”
That evidence can be far more meaningful than simply being told to “be confident”.
