Lim Chae-min 34, captain of Jeju United in the K League 1, expressed his determination to win at least one championship trophy this season. As the season had a rough time due to his injury, Lim is all the more determined.

Lim suffered a fractured jaw during the match against Gwangju FC in the league in June. Despite bleeding near his jaw, Lim showed his fighting spirit until the game ended. However, he was forced to leave for an extended period of time. Without Lim, the captain and center of defense, Jeju lost three games and lost two games to nine points, shaking its defense greatly. As of Tuesday, Jeju ranks eighth 32 points in the league. It is four points behind sixth, which is the team's primary goal.

Lim made his first appearance since his injury at the 2024 Hana Bank Korea Cup semifinal draw and media day earlier this month.

"I had a toothache after the match against Gwangju, and I went to the dentist a day later to find out about my jaw fracture. He asked me if I was frustrated. I got an internal injury in my right knee, which is quite embarrassing," he said. "I tried to manage my mental health during the recovery period. I think it was an opportunity to strengthen myself. I came back well after organizing my mind."

Although it is in the middle and lower ranks in the league, Lim Chae-min emphasized that the goal is still to win the league and the Korea Cup.

"Since joining Jeju last year, our team's ranking has not been good. This is not where we are," Lim Chae-min said. "I'm very greedy whether it's the league or the Korea Cup. I think Jeju will have to quickly lift the trophy and make a good start to perform better."

After relocating from Bucheon to Jeju in 2006, Jeju won the K League 2 title in 2020. Lim Chae-min wants to raise the trophy more.

Jeju has had a jinx in July and August in particular in recent seasons. Lim Chae-min said, "It's been 10 years since I became a professional player, and it's particularly hot and humid this summer. Still, when the opposing team comes to Jeju, it seems that they are having a hard time. If we adapt to Jeju's heat and continue to increase our home winning rate, it will help us compete in the rankings." This was also the first goal of Kim Hak-beom, who took the helm this season.

Jeju is in the semifinals of the Korea Cup, and the opponent team that it encountered on the way to the finals was the Pohang Steelers. Jeju advanced to the semifinals of the Korea Cup last year, when it was also Pohang. At the time, he bowed his head in a penalty shootout after 120 minutes of extra time. Despite his strong performance, Lim shed tears as he missed the penalty shootout. "My team made it to the final round of the Korea Cup in 2004. I have a positive imagination with a better feeling and feeling than last year," he said.

After the break, Jeju will play Incheon United in the 26th round at 7:30 p.m. on the 10th at the Jeju World Cup Stadium. 메이저놀이터
