Drooling-down, its thick but aging-Plexiglas window-panes, in a late-summer storm of ‘93... The Unit, was a maturing and reconverted, architecture by-design. Structured, in as a below-the-ground, floor-dimension. The attenuated and tall, multi-framed windows; were set nearly, even with the outside ground-basing…
...Along the area of the round-yard. Which ran beside its outdoor partial-perimeter... ...Habilitating clientele, went there as a special-sectored allowance; by a provision and reassessment. ...Going-outdoors for ‘fresh-air’ and to stretch their-muscles. In a less restrictive-side, to the fact of being impressed. Most all that day, being spent inside, underneath a day of dark-menacing skies. An incoming-storm, now finally, letting-loose of warm-and wet-moisture penned-up, in what had been a long hot-sultry season.
Ward-2, known psychometrically, as an "Independent" ward. ...Security-aide workers such as Paul Jason Walker, was an evening-shift ward-charge... Dressed in typical code; all-white, he was a more, underscored and thorough facility’s authoritarian. His co-worker in white, was Don Fischer, who was less-tenured and ultimately, less authoritative. But as well, lesser-inclined and not as self-assured.
Presently, they presiding-over a unit. …In what was a three hundred bed-building complex and campus assigned for the committed… By what was as an infirming of people with a social, legal or personal-defect…
Eight varied men, seated in an array, around the unit’s day-room section. ...Clients that were in various verified resided contentions... ...By necessary imprisonment, arraignment and deliberate-concession...in what was definitively, by psychiatric-means... Induced in variable decisions of assignee-transfer. What would come later as a sustained potential for release. In what was the forensic-process...by and of institutionalized, administrating and legislating-conception; as the supplanting-prefixes of authority, considerations and abject-confirm. The mental-suspect of causes for a symptomatic apprehension in as practical-processing in arriving at as a decision of perpetuity.

Several clients were watching-television, chatting and otherwise, enjoying free down-time. As the remainder slept or were in their assigned compliant rooms designations.
The aide-staffs were seated, within the nurses' station-room. Performing technical-processing in write-up Stats-forms...by as follow-ups, write-ups, and clerical-duties. And also being, in an emergency-prep for a "code-orange"... An instant alert-response call. The ward-aides went about carrying-on with their independent job…
Otherwise, attending to nursing/client imposed-functions. Or by ways of operations impressed follow-through... Shift-duties were for personnel, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The afternoon-watch, was to register and be guiding of what were their charges’ daily active-behaviors.
Paul and Don, were well-known in what was a confidantt-communing with their-charges... ...As the results of their injecting, individual personalities... And so as an uniquely, innocent idiosyncratic-impulse being in and of what was as each patient’s self-vocality... Paul was 61, a 25-year veteran. Seeing times change, from as far back as the mid-‘70s... Recognizing that clients-today, as having demonstrably of a "wider" self-venue and certain "higher" personally, realized-submissions.
Staffing, over time, became swallowed-up by growth of patients’ humane dimensions to what was to become a new psychiatric-protocol... Many having been once been irresponsible clients. ...Yet auspiciously being within what was their mental/social-proclivity...
By what was fastly becoming history...in as an inherent and centralizing convalescent-symposium, and staunch mental-health system by humanitarian inclusion... Paul: "kind"comparatively, as to Don: steadfast and rarely, influenceable. Don, not closing-in on retirement often fed his inner-invoking, selfish-taunts... Often, being beset upon with a deterring-contingent… Intensely, being recounted and implemented against his-charges... Days often went by way of a environmentally, compressed and repressive "zeal". By what was as a necessary-deliberation. By what became a civil, casual and fundamentally concerted, deliberation...
Men and women, in a committed convalescent correction self-cause. By way of being dimensionally, restricted and penalized… In what was to be in such a requiem-institution... Lending to being clinically,placed under conditions of reclusionary, potential-danger and the necessity to be, in as correctional-compliance... By what was an incursion and ineptitude. Resorted to being as under an imposed, forensic discretionary. And as well, in essential containing and complying role-objectivity... David Calvin Justice, 29, was a relatively, new trustee spending his first Thanksgiving, Christmas through Easter, on the Intro-ward; processed as a new-arrival… Examined, in behavior by what was the tenets of observation-unit... Eventually, what was a long-term placement... It was a "tough" experience. By what was a daily-reality as a forensic maximum-security hospital. Hardening-times, leaving his hometown at 27... Arriving in Vintonburg, Oklahoma to attend college. ...Looking forward to better-times, graduating junior-college as an above-average student, at 21. Achieving an Associate in Arts-Life-sciences, pre-doctoral… The incurred revelatory-concessions were facts, undone. In what was to become a criminal-imprisonment. And what had existed for 10-years in his life: psychiatrically, conferred as in mental-defect...
Walking-out on the day-room on this humid rainy-day, noticing the other-clients relaxing and passing-time, engaging interests… Justice, was an intelligent man. Once being sophisticatedly, redeemed. Focusing on the logically, driven... as to posturing "genuine"-ideas... Involving thinking-impetus, and stigmas relative to academic years. ...Self-involved, in what had become a dire, pontification. Now, on the intense-confliction, of what was an unique incurring. Deeply, suppressed and juxtaposed, as a closed-off mental-"koans"and deductive-idioms... In what was caged-up intellectual-contemplations... …What was becoming off-handed, ‘minimal’ and ultra-generalized…
Coming to realizing every new-instances in what had became a "finite", minding-activity... As a psychiatrically, diverted and preconceived-altering. In what was entrenched in the last-decade in his-life till now. What had become a lonely, meditative-thrall; complicated by ill-certain yet venerable self-virtually. Ultimately, based on a perceptively, determined judgment of subversion… In a reversal over the last few-years. ...Artificially, cooled-air, seeding-feelings in what was in as adverse, and deepening dimension.

...Transported-on a cold-day, in November. After months in County-Sheriff’s prison. What followed was an experience-intense, yet futile. ….Last two-years, giving much effort to comply and adapt, into what was an pro-indicative-illness... And having come to be a traverse psychiatrically, conferred-contention.... By a former mental-deriving in self-controlling ‘intensities’, as lessons in hardships. It was life-in a personal-duplicity... ...Leveling-out and venturing-away from his home. And now, "strung-on-a-wire"... A lucid-mind of dreams, wishes and hopes undeservingly, alluding ever-closer to a predestined, pragmatism.

He was now, belying within a "deeper"-futility… David-wrestled with the new-clinical, legal and medical-realigning. ...Tantamount to, what was as an institutional-enlistment. By and in what was to become an occupationally, incurred "fault or blame". Overseer-institutions that were established… By what was an executable, individual-underlying and by official re-ordinate. ...Faced in-what was becoming a methodically, "downward-spiral" as a suppressed clinical-patient... ...Placed within a mental-hospital times before. Yet-in was as an individualized-resolution, for a future cause... To be released and rationally, being un-controlled, and un-inhibited... In what was to be in an accordant "individual-reality,... At Simmons forensic maximum security hospital-admission, was regarded as a "prison-term" by its experienced clientele... As a client, now-skirting mandatory, pre-destined rules. Sitting at a table independently, striving to be understanding, willing and in relegate-accepting of their rules.
Potentially, and inertly, being inactive and inundated, as under clinical-procedures… Exacting, under an inhibitive-outline by as legal-statute. Under asserted as clinical-protocol definitively, influencing each client-patient cartel. …Don, security-aide was in peremptory, in his nascent-actions as being an "issues-man"... Objectively, "paralleled" yet obtuse…commanding, a "full-range" of what was an affectation. In as status and mode, the shape of David’s life, over the last 8-months being held-by institutional-enlistment, within as a definitive-regiment. His innate-dependence and dispose, actualizing in a reticular "next-move"... Over-looked, in by mental-health treatment-avail... Propagated as an infirmed-priority, by considering professionals...

An arm of Suffrage, mental medical-science and social-reform… By 1850s, America and the world started a line of humaneness that by 1930s’ in drugs, alcohol and ascetic-causes; murder, abuse and repression saw a turn from humanitarian to ruling-moral medical-relegation... By ‘60s movements, ‘70s "Free-love" and afterward, its results… Seeing the detainees’ philosophical-conditions reduced by long, distraught social-climes... Many people seeing a single-individual given to commit immoral-crimes, show little-remorse, and then imprisoned for life over capital-punishment, in the name of humanity, there...
The straight-forward order of things set on social-foundation was worsening in moral anomaly... Thus, principles and precipices, men and women acting as relative point-guards in moral-issues not easily, being acknowledgeable. Don, Paul and David clinical-declarative objects, asconsiderateUhsensational-edict come to full-circle... A historical-resound in rules, procedures and regulations by personal and social norm-straits. David, knew little of this… ...Not seeing, in the socio-moral preciseness, conspiring and adjudicating to law, legality and legitimacy. ...29-years old, single, without substantial-family to rely upon. But by 2,000, less than 200 were still employed... -With the impudence of daily lock-down, forced cell-ing, and occasional arm and leg-locking. Professional abuses against what should have been proven treatment. ...Deciding as an eventually, resultant termination of doctors, nurses, aide-workers and staff... After its exposure the reigning-in by new Mental Health Department-leaders...informed, as a creed against super-critical-enforcement of client-impressing... ---Carlos Attos, was seated on the couch watching television. A Mexican-illegal immigrant, finally ending-up, in the U.S. Placed at Simmons avoiding deportation. Sam Heller, was a large-figure abused children. Peter Samuelson, an irritable-client likely, committing violence, in anger... Bruce Witsaw, a one-time murderer, enjoying time away from prison, as a more functional-client. ...Total of eight-clients around the dayroom, none overly, dramatized in-plight... In irreversible contentions, promoted to behave properly, in clinical-standings... ...His long-history of conflict. ...Didn’t abuse substances, didn’t commit crimes of selfish contention. November 23, 1992, he was brought to Simmons after 52-days in jail, a crime of resisting-arrest and assaulting an officer… No one, was hurt. A sentence of N.G.R.I., and assigned to be sent to Simmons for ‘an indefinite-period’...
…Most of David’s life was a struggle... Determined to overcoming-issues, many not his own. Times, he accepted and committed-to although lost and depravity were often emplaced before him. Misunderstood, mishandled and misinterpreted in family, friends and social-fosters, in no-certain terms... Extremely, edifying issues; lying-center, upon his path in-life. At times, he had wished many could have been "avoided". But life was short...misunderstandings, were undeniable in the likelihood of experiences. In its many dynamics, in a pathway of mishaps...
The intensity of strife, loneliness, abuse and distortion. In a fathomable kind. ...Un-fostering, such defaming by eventual acceptance. Many times, in a full-defining, by ‘conditions’. ...Mis-incurred; mis-trusted; and mis-redeemed in a ‘void’ of living. Mainly, incentives, were in-turn; survival, thriving and inner-makings. Although, in what was a learning-encounter. Born in ‘64. Life began "tough", and became tougher... Instilled, in social-upheavals, personal-plights and public-purveyances, almost permanently. Deterrent in myopic-years, as a norm of social-demographics.
In a situation by retrospective social-woes. ...David’s family were known for having external and internal-problems... Unabatedly, in his-eyes were love, affection and companionship. Of the times in demeaning taciturn. By what was conflicting hardships. What had became a derogatory, epitome. Intertwining, with life’s inferring. Until the issues of punitive-influences. By which there was an affectation being mental health-facilities. Incurred by their ‘court-declared’, recourse. Upon legitimacy of violent-offenses. ...Then mitigated unto what was owning clientele-"ties". Until resolving-"fears" by what was the factorials of remorse, fault, and blame; mistrust, as distrust. "Resorting", unto what was inappropriate emotional-deans. Ending as a self-dimensional reproving, presided upon. As inclusive in the reach of moving-on, as ending residence. As to reaching an "alternate"-pinnacle. ...The warm-day of rain, engaged-winds and sunless somber-clouds... A day to ignore weather and be resolve, in entertaining-interests.
5’9”, David C. Justice became restless, a ‘restlessness’ engulfed as to people, places and times. Ward-2 member on the independent-ward for 8-months. Understood as a strange utopia of case-workers, aides and clients, with rounds-psychiatrist and physician. …Being a practicing-goal of personnel-enterprises, following-program by its unique-classicism. For individuals having certain proclivities. Sara Genna, head of the unit was a social-worker in professional and of class means. Perhaps, in competence learning of intuit clientele. Affirmation, being conformer and teacher lending to the issues of hospital-rehab. …It was becoming Monday night, everyone was taking a laid-back stance. David’s trek-from education, discipline, and affirming-motivation as in college-success. Un-conceived hardships effectually, following in a civil-pact by stressing-in, as a foundation. Guising-employ and result, impacting by date-time. Being potential-stressors by a "hit-and-miss" precept. To fathom "woes" seemingly, to mirror-image. A role-playing in constructive and obstructive-shadows of himself.
David lost his mother a year-earlier. Abandoning sentimental-attitude once understood. In 8-months as in self-composed vigil. In the intent presently, to find a command-to self-comply. The feel of "cool"-air when entering the room from the unit’s hall; seemingly like, a breath, to a lung. The unit sat on the first-floor. On occasion, someone passed by in the hall. Any client who would watch was in rule-violation. Looking to the door was also prohibited. Getting to a point that the door was shut by paranoid-staff. Or overtly, obedient clients or against-bored, to-the-point-of-delirium clients. In the name-of-obedience especially, actions. Or reiterations and provisions, taken in ever "revolving" staff-overbite. Pitted against opposing, lonely clientele.
For now, being adhering and consistently, reached-as the order of things. For his hardened-"role", David’s mindset was set-‘free’. For what, was thought; a complimentary, "unrealizable"-concession. Against his settings’ predispose-implications. A "false"-sense in an origination to the average human-beings/with above-average-preclusions. Ambiguously, saving composing-parallels made David a sieve of perniciousness. In-virtual, due in part, to inundating, and defined-rituals. Being once overlaid, in what was stalled-contests. …175-days on Ward-9, observation and enlist-ward. A ‘zeal’ in conforming-complex, facing each individual-clientele… As well on Ward-2 residing by the implications in being and coexisting as hardened-criminals. Remit derivatively, unto ‘harsh’ and cruel subjective-atmosphere a denizen-‘rift’ as potential aversive. Proctoring in unreeling, affected-dimension and design of the ‘average-clientele’ and S.A.s...
A sardonic, stalled and despotic existent-qualm. Requisition, by interactive-sentiment, as plot of things. "Aimless", alternatives in patient-population’s self-division in an un-renounced, de facto… Engaged moment-by-moment in finite coexistent-incentive...held-to as deliberate officiate. …Criminal-prison offers “lock-up”, with a dimensional functioning. As precariously, deemed-rights in an humanitarian-fabric. Established by legal-ordinances, in progression, as individual reform. This forensic, mental-health hospital-offered daily cell lock-up, meals and institutionally, enforced personal-implication. -Oppressive and over-reaching rules...over an individual impress. By what was a standard-policy. Institutional, and "internal"-imported to in a-client’s pseudo-dignity. Operatively, enlisting-by and among sequesters. While SMH-population engendered a fictitious social-dignity. There was an arrangement of mitigate-suspicion "shining" as invested-reticence. Then, over-time in an administrative handing-down propagating-rule. Affectively, denoted to an ominous orient. Impacting, reconstituted levels-in a watered-down posturing.
