Four sessions - 13 tracks - for hand percussion
A collection of four sessions, 12 music cues plus bonus, with music minus one accompaniment recordings for various hand percussion instruments (see list below). Simple parts that teach listening and ensemble skills as well as giving the opportunity to consider producing the best sound from the instrument.
The short accessible pieces have been devised to enhance the lesson (beginning or end) by developing reading and listening skills and to work alongside other music used during the lesson. The pieces are composed as ensemble parts rather than a solo works which also gives the student experience of band and orchestra style playing.
Instruments included in the sessions are: claves, 2 temple blocks, mark tree, shell wind chimes, cowbell, cabasa, springed clacker, vibra slap, flexatone, maracas, bongos, castanets, egg shaker, shell shaker, headed tambourine, bowed suspended cymbal and a bonus track for djembe.
The more energetic tracks are News and Chase with a contrast in Gentle Underscore and create a sense of the unknown in Tense Drama. The album of accompaniment tracks is available to download for free (or make a further donation) at https://urbanskyline.bandcamp.com/album/four-sessions-for-hand-percussion
The bonus track Powerful Percussion has a djembe part which is written as a duet with the drum kit on the recording. (Four sessions for drums includes the bonus drum kit part and Four sessions for tuned percussion includes a bonus timpani part of the same track, can be performed as a percussion trio.)
PDF reader needed and the format has been devised to suit both printing (landscape) and on screen.
