Paralyzed in the Void

A Science Fiction story about isolation, powerlessness and being alone.

Traveling faster than light is deadly unless you freeze your body into suspended animation. But the process leaves your mind aware. Before modern technology that allowed some small control through direct mental input, many people went mad in the weeks it takes to travel between worlds.

In this story, a passenger of a ship becomes aware that pirates have invaded their ship at one of its prearranged stops. Unable to move and unwilling to let himself and the other passengers be kidnapped, he uses the few resources he has to protect the ship.
