Syringa Lace Cardigan · Knitting Pattern (PDF, Beta)

A lace cardigan that looks as if it came out of a great-grandmother's wardrobe. Syringa (the botanical name of lilac) is covered in small leaves set in an eyelet trellis, with a raised nupp wherever the trellis lines cross. A lilac vine climbs beside the buttons on each front, the round yoke carries a wreath of lilac sprigs and a garland of hanging leaves, and every edge ends in a mini ruffle with picots.

BETA PATTERN

Every chart row, every stitch count and the shaping of the yoke and sleeves have been checked in software, but no sample garment has been made up yet. You get the beta at a lower price, and the tested version will reach you for free through your Payhip download link. Please knit the swatch and try the body on before the yoke. If anything doesn't add up, write to me and I'll fix it.

• Fingering yarn, 420–460 m per 100 g: about 1160–1370 / 1310–1540 / 1460–1730 m (estimate)

• 2 mm circular needle (80–100 cm) and 2 mm for small circumferences

• Gauge: 32 sts × 42 rows = 10 cm in lace, after blocking

• 9 buttons, 10–12 mm

SKILL LEVEL

Advanced: lace on every right-side row, nupps, travelling twisted stitches, a round yoke worked flat with short rows.
