More about the Album from Ahau Records
In 1993, the Salsa Orquesta "Surco Nuevo" was born in San Francisco, California. Their approach - taking old-school hard Salsa and returning to the roots of the montuno with Cuatro and 12-String Guitar instead of Piano. In this style, the band played Salsa favorites and other well known songs not heard from many other bands in the area, along with original songs. After the break up of Surco Nuevo, new band "Orquesta Salsa Dura" continued and advanced the style. This collection is a mix of those songs played in that era, a documentation of the unique sound of the band.
