Lesson 2 - Preparing Your Heart to Study: Learning to Study God's Word for Yourself
What should happen in our hearts before we begin studying God's Word?
Lesson 2 helps students understand that Bible study begins with more than an open Bible. Through Scripture and guided activities, students consider the attitudes that prepare the heart to hear, understand, and respond to what God has said.
In this lesson, students will:
- Recognize the importance of approaching Scripture with humility and teachability
- Consider how prayer prepares the heart for Bible study
- Identify attitudes that can interfere with hearing God's Word
- Practice preparing their hearts before beginning personal Bible study
