The Parenting Pause: From Reacting to Responding
A Six-Week Mindfulness Journey for Parents
A Six-Week Mindfulness Journey for Parents
The Parenting Pause is an online, self-paced course that you can work through from home, whenever it suits you. There are no live sessions and no fixed start date. You simply choose when you're ready to begin.
Parenting can sometimes feel like one long rush from one thing to the next.
The meals, the school runs, the work, the washing, the endless to-do lists. You love your children deeply, but that does not mean you always have the time, energy or headspace to be the parent you want to be.
Sometimes you snap when you meant to stay calm. React when you wanted to respond. Feel overwhelmed by your child's big emotions when your own cup is already pretty empty.
And then comes the guilt.
The Parenting Pause is a gentle six-week journey that starts with you.
Rather than giving you a list of techniques to use on your child, we'll begin by exploring your own mind, your nervous system, your emotions and your relationship with yourself.
You'll learn simple mindfulness and self-compassion practices that can help you notice what is happening in those difficult moments, find a little more space before you react, and come back to yourself when things feel hard.
Then, as you build your own practice, you'll discover simple ways to bring mindfulness into everyday life with your child.
This isn't about becoming a perfectly calm parent. There is no such thing.
It's about learning to pause, notice, understand and begin again, so that you can feel more connected to yourself and to your child, even when family life is messy.
Perhaps you know that feeling of being physically with your children but mentally somewhere else.
Perhaps you find yourself:
If some of these sound familiar, you're in the right place.
You don't need to become a different parent. You simply need some space to notice what is already happening and some gentle tools to help you meet it differently.
This is not about becoming a different parent. It is about coming home to the one you already are.
Over six weeks, you'll learn to notice what is happening inside you, find more space before you react, and meet yourself with a little more kindness when things feel hard.
As your own practice grows, you'll discover simple, playful ways to bring mindfulness into family life, helping you and your child make space for feelings, find calm and connect with each other.
The aim isn't to never lose your patience or for your child to never have a meltdown. It's about learning to meet the messy moments with a little more awareness, kindness and steadiness.
The Parenting Pause is a six-week self-paced course, designed to fit around real family life. You can work through each week when it suits you, without needing to be online at a particular time or keep up with anyone else.
Each week includes:
The practices are short and manageable. You don't need a perfect routine, a quiet house or lots of spare time. Small moments count.
You don't have to work through the course completely on your own. From the time you begin, you'll have seven weeks of personal WhatsApp support from me. I'll check in with you along the way, and you can use our WhatsApp space to ask questions, share what's coming up for you, tell me about the little wins or simply get some encouragement when things feel difficult.
The Parenting Pause moves through two gentle phases.
We start with you.
You'll explore your busy mind, your nervous system, difficult emotions and self-compassion, building simple practices to help you pause, notice and respond rather than react.
Then we bring your child in.
You'll discover simple, creative ways to explore mindfulness together, including sensory activities, emotions, stories, kindness and gratitude.
Your child already knows how to be mindful. This is about protecting and sharing that natural awareness, while creating a family language around feelings, kindness and connection.
The journey starts with you, then ripples into family life.
Not at all. Some parents join because family life feels overwhelming, while others simply want to feel more present, connected and emotionally aware in their parenting. You do not need to be at breaking point to benefit.
No.
The Parenting Pause is designed for parents who are completely new to mindfulness as well as those who have tried it before and would like to develop their practice.
The course has been created with busy parents in mind. The weekly content is bitesize and flexible, so you can fit it around your life rather than needing huge blocks of time. Even small moments of practice can make a difference.
There is no "falling behind" here. The Parenting Pause is self-paced, so you can take it at a speed that works for you and your family. You'll also have seven weeks of WhatsApp support from me, so you don't have to navigate it completely on your own.
Yes. The practices and tools adapt beautifully across ages. Whether your children are toddlers, in primary school, or older, the way you bring mindfulness into family life will shift, but the foundations stay the same. The core skills of staying steady, listening well and helping children name their feelings are useful at every age.
You will leave with practical tools to help you respond rather than react, support your child through big feelings, create more calm and connection at home and build a shared emotional language as a family.
Your access to The Parenting Pause will remain, so you can revisit the videos, practices and resources whenever you need to.
Your personal WhatsApp support runs for seven weeks from when you begin the course, giving you an extra week to reflect, ask questions or simply keep practising.
Your seven weeks of WhatsApp support begins when you start the course.
I'll check in with you during that time, and you can message me with questions, reflections or things that come up as you work through the course.
If something in you has been quietly nodding as you've read this, perhaps it's time to give yourself a little space.
You don't need to become a calmer, more patient or more mindful parent overnight.
You don't need to add another thing to your list of things you're supposed to be doing.
You can simply begin.
Over six weeks, The Parenting Pause will give you the space to understand yourself a little more deeply, practise coming back to the present moment and discover simple ways to bring mindfulness into family life.
And for seven weeks from the moment you begin, I'll be there on WhatsApp to support you along the way.
I'd love to welcome you into The Parenting Pause.
With warmth,
