Match Up Basketball - Pro 2011
This is the PDF of the 2011 Pro season for Match-Up Basketball. While Chicago had the league's best record, the story, at least to the media, was the first year of "The Heatles" and LeBron James "taking his talents" to Miami where he would join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Much to the chagrin of the basketball media, they didn't go 82-0, but they did make the finals, where they lost in a surprising series to Dallas and Dirk Nowitzki. Th MVP was Chicago's Derrick Rose, a native Chicagoan playing for his hometown team. The scoring leader was Kevin Durant, the rebounding leader was Kevin Love, and Steve Nash led in assists. Dwight Howard was the Defensive Player of the Year. This is a fun season as it feels very much like the early 2000s met the modern era in this season. Statistically, 2011 is the mean for the league's all-time statistics, which also makes it interesting. While much of the attention went to Miami and then Dallas, it would be a mistake to overlook Chicago, LAL, San Antonio, and Boston. Chicago was a defensive monster with Rose, Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer, and Joakim Noah, while L.A. depended on their own all-stars in Kove Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Sixth Man of the Year Lamar Odom. Coach Pop in San Antonio still had Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, but this was Manu Ginobili's year to lead the team. Boston still had Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce. In Houston, this was the final season for Yao Ming, and in Utah, it was also the last for Coach Jerry Sloan.
