Jesus, The Businessman
This book will explore the business life of Jesus’ time and culture. It was common for a son to follow in his father’s occupational footsteps. Since Joseph was a craftsman, it makes sense for Jesus, as Joseph’s oldest son, to have been one as well. Jesus would have been an apprentice to His father, learning the family business by His father’s side.
Given the likelihood that Joseph died before Jesus began his messianic business, it’s reasonable to believe that Jesus managed the family business for some time. We should also not be surprised that Jesus used business as a deeper illustration of the Kingdom of God. Jesus, the Businessman is the story, but advancing God’s Kingdom is the purpose. Jesus came to restore all things that are broken. That begins with us in a relationship with Him, but it extends to our business.
