Isometric Grid Script for Adobe Illustrator

Stop building grids by hand.

If you do isometric work in Adobe Illustrator, you know the setup: manually placing guides, doing the math, fighting with snapping. This script skips all of that. One click and your grid is done, locked, and clipped perfectly to your artboard.

What it does

The Isometric Grid Script generates a complete three-axis isometric grid directly inside Illustrator using a simple ScriptUI dialog. The grid lives on its own dedicated layer, locked automatically so it never gets in the way of your artwork. Everything is clipped to the artboard boundary, so nothing bleeds outside your canvas.

Two grid modes

Choose the one that fits your work:

30° Classic is the standard equilateral triangle grid used in traditional isometric illustration, brand work, and print. Every angle is mathematically correct.

26.565° Pixel 2:1 uses a true 2:1 slope (rise 1, run 2) for screen-accurate pixel isometric work. If your final output is digital and you want crisp pixel alignment, this is the one.

Full control in the dialog

• Grid size from 10 pt up, with quick presets for each mode
• 8 color swatches, or bring your own
• Opacity slider (5 to 100%)
• Line weight control
• Toggle visibility without deleting the grid
• Clear the grid entirely when you no longer need it

Multi-artboard ready

Working with multiple artboards? Each artboard gets its own independent grid group. Regenerate on one artboard without touching the others.

RGB and CMYK

The script detects your document color mode automatically. CMYK documents get proper RGB to CMYK conversion at generation time.
