Substance abuse, depression, suicide, financial stress, and relationship problems are real challenges that people are facing on a daily basis. Unforseen circumstances can create alot of pressure, and sometimes it can make people feel hopeless in the face of these challenges.

Facing challenging times certainly doesnt mean you are a failure, or even a bad person. It just means life happened, and sometimes circumstances happen beyond your control. These situations can be overwhelming, and you can find yourself doing things that you never dreamed you would do. In some instances people have turned to substances to help them cope with these challenges.

How you landed up in trouble or how you started an addiction does not matter. What matters is how you recover. No matter how challenging, or how hopeless things may seem, there is always a way to turn things around! With a new plan and a fresh perspective, your life can completely change, and you can begin the exciting journey of sobriety.

The good news is... change can start today!

"RECOVERY ISNT ONLY ABOUT QUITTING SUBSTANCES, ITS ABOUT CHANGING EVERY AREA OF YOUR LIFE"

Financial stability.
Mending relationships.
Overcoming addictions.

MY STORY

I was heavily addicted to drugs and alcohol for 15 years. Needless to say it completely destroyed my life. The years went by as a complete blur of parties and hangovers, and yet it all seemed like such fun at the time!

But... deep down inside I knew I needed to change. The truth is I didnt know how to change, it just seemed easier to go with the flow and accept that life was meant to be that way.

To be honest I did some crazy things that Im not proud of, and Im very grateful that I never landed up in prison or six feet under!

At 28 years old, I finally hit rock bottom! When you completely bottom out you just cant go any lower. Its like a boxer being knocked down to the canvas, you can only see your life from the dirt covered floor. You realize that you only have two choices left. You can either stay on the canvas in the dirt, or you can make a decision to get back up and change! Looking at the negative reality of my life was literally a sobering wake up call, and the catalyst that motivated me to change!

When you make the decision to get off the bottom you come face to face with the cold hard reality of the condition of your life, and you are faced with what seems like an impossible mountain to climb. My relationships were strained and I had burned quite a few bridges, my physical and mental health were deteriorating rapidly, and my finances were in tatters and in major debt. I looked at the wreck of my so called life and I had no idea what I was going to do!

But... as the saying goes, "the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step", I took the first step, and started climbing the mountain!

Maybe that is you today. Maybe you feel like your life is out of control and you don't know what to do. When you are faced with overwhelming circumstances, you don't always know where to start, or how to get free from the addiction that is causing so much chaos in your life. And you are also faced with the same challenging questions:

Can I break free?

Is there hope for me?

Can I beat this addiction?

Can I turn my life around?

Can I experience true fulfilment?

The answer is: YES YOU CAN!

YES YOU CAN Overcome Addiction

Over the past 18 years of sobriety I've learnt many lessons and principles that have kept me sober and also helped me change my life. In 2014 I was inspired to write a book on my personal experiences in my journey of sobriety, and I also shared some of the key principles that that have kept me sober for the past 18 years!

Recovery is about rebuilding every area of your life, and this book will show you how to take a strategic and practical approach to turning your life around! With a new plan and a fresh perspective you begin to see that a changed life is totally possible. What initially seemed hopeless becomes an exciting new adventure to discovering who you are and what you are created to do!

This book has impacted the lives of so many people over the years, and has helped them break free from addiction! My prayer is that this book will find its way into the hands of all who need help, and that it would continue to help people change their lives!

"I'VE BEEN SOBER FOR 18 YEARS AND LOVING LIFE!"

What's important to remember is that the addiction is not who you are. The real you, is the person without the addiction and dependancy to substances. The real you is a good person that has an addiction issue to deal with. The addiction is something that can be dealt with and overcome in a positive proactive way, and Its not who you are!

"IF I CAN DO IT SO CAN YOU!"

YES YOU CAN Impact:

In April 2021 I was invited to a live book review interview at the Articulate Africa Books and Art Fair, hosted by the Ethekweni Parks, Recreation and Culture unit.

In 2020 the Gauteng Education department purchased 234 copies for distribution into the schools within the province, and I was awarded a suppliers designation by the department.

In 2017 Yes You Can was selected for the eThekwini One City One Book campaign that is run annually to promote local authors.

During the 2017 campaign I was invited to sit on the discussion panel at the One City One Book event with over 200 people in attendance.

In 2016 the book was selected as one of the top 10 featuring books on Loot, which is one of the largest online platforms in South Africa.

Copies have been distributed into the Westville correctional facility in Durban, and it has made a significant impact in the lives of many of the prisoners.

Copies have also been distributed into local schools and rehabilitation centres within the Durban and surrounding areas, and inspired many to overcome their addictions.

Scholar testimony:
A school in the Kwadukuza area put a few copies of the book into their school library. One of the scholars in grade 8 who was heavily addicted to drugs read the book and it changed his life. He stopped using drugs and started using the contents of the book to help his friends.
