Family Meal Planner Spreadsheet | Household Size & Child Portions | Weekly Menu, Recipes and Auto Grocery List

Plan meals for your whole family — with automatic scaling for household size and child portions.

This Family Meal Planner is built for parents who want to feed everyone from one menu without doing math for "adult portions vs. kid portions." You set your household size and how many children you're cooking for, then pick your weekly recipes. The spreadsheet automatically scales every ingredient on your grocery list based on your family's exact size.

What makes it different:- Household Size Scaling — set your total household count, and all recipe portions adjust automatically from the base (2-serving) template.- Child Portions Control — add the number of children separately; the spreadsheet factors their needs into the final grocery list and portion calculations.- Scaling Formula — every ingredient auto-calculates: (Household + 0.5×Children) / servings per recipe, rounded to realistic quantities (3 cups, 2.5 oz, etc.).- Weekly Menu tab — pick 4 meals per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) for 7 days.- Recipes tab — log base ingredients and servings; the spreadsheet stores and reuses them.- Ingredients tab — add your recipe components; they auto-populate and scale on the Grocery List when you select that recipe for the week.- Auto-Filling Grocery List — mark your weekly meals, and every ingredient is highlighted, pre-scaled for your family size, and ready to check off at the store.- 12 starter recipes (Oatmeal, Eggs, Pasta, Chicken, Ground Beef, and more) — replace with your own in minutes.

Included in this instant download:- MealPlanner-Family.xlsx — the full editable workbook (Instructions, Weekly Menu, Recipes, Ingredients, Grocery List)- MealPlanner-Family-US-Letter.pdf — blank printable planner for US Letter paper (grocery list and weekly grid)- MealPlanner-Family-A4.pdf — same, for A4 paper

Works in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice Calc. Only the yellow cells are meant for typing — everything else is protected so the formulas can't break by accident.
