This is the shawl that I imagine Bathsheba Everdene, Grace Melbury or Tess Durbeyfield wrapping themselves in. Made with soft but robust West Country wool and richly coloured, it features a Victorian stitch pattern for the knit on edge.
The half hexagon shawl has three triangular panels and is worked out from a garter stitch tab and provisional cast on. It is worked in rows on a circular needle.
Size
Wingspan 180cm, depth 90cm.
Tension
25 stitches and 34 rows to 10cm over st st using 3.5mm needles, unblocked.
Materials
John Arbon Devonia 4ply, 100% Wool: Exmoor Blueface, Devon Bluefaced Leicester & Devon Wensleydale (approx 388m per 100g).
2 x 100g skeins in Bleeding Heart.
1 pair 3.5mm circular needle, at least 80cm.
4mm crochet hook.
Smooth scrap yarn.
6 stitch markers.
