The author went from public high school to Yale University and USC's School of Cinematic Arts (formerly School of Cinema Television). As an undergrad, Ms. Appel was a diversity recruiter for the Office of Admissions at Yale. She reported directly to the Associate Dean for the School of Cinema Television at USC when she was a grad student teaching assistant for the school's largest revenue-generating industry course.
