- PURPOSE: understanding exactly what the forecast is to be used for
- TIME: understanding how frequently a forecast should researched and over what horizon
- MODELS: identifying the best way to produce a forecast
- MEASUREMENT: understanding how best to measure the quality of your forecast and how to improve it
- RISK: measuring the uncertainty attached to the forecast
- PROCESS: designing a good process for producing forecasts
