Tim sneaks a candle and his "most powerful" prop (a family heirloom ring or a dusty old book from a flea market) to the porch to try an "atmospheric" spell for the jack-o'-lanterns.

· Frustrated, he recites an incantation he doesn't believe will work, focusing all his pent-up disappointment into the words: "Bring these hollow shells to life!"

· The candle flame flares green. The pumpkin guts in the bowls begin to tremble, then slither, coalescing into a small, Gloppy creature his accidental familiar.
