Sanctuary Place Cowl

This is a quick and easy pattern to create a cosy worsted weight cowl, with a mixture of garter, twists, and cables, it has just enough interest to keep the knit engaging but still simple enough to make for a nice relaxing knit. You can make it in the 3 colours as laid out in the pattern or you could opt for a 1 colour version, in either solid, tonal, or speckled yarn to suit your preferences.

Knitting skills & techniques used:

Intermediate: Casting on, binding off, knitting, purling, cables, Right & Left Twists.

Materials:

The following yarn usage amount is an approximate guide and is in fact a little over the actual amount I used, as I have applied an approx. 10% buffer of each ball used, plus rounded up the numbers, in view of differences between knitter’s gauge and such, and to give you a few grams room:

Requires approx. 259 yards / 237 metres Worsted weight yarn.

For the Sample I used: De Rerum Natura, Gilliatt,

(100% Wool - Merino, 100g, 273 yards / 250 meters) in the colourways as listed below, but any wool based Worsted Weight yarn of choice should work fine.

Yarn A: ‘Poivre Et Sel’ (Beige), 150 yards / 138 metres

Yarn B: ‘Poivre Blanc’ (Cream), 27 yards / 25 metres

Yarn C: ‘Lagon’ (Aqua), 82 yards / 75 metres

Needles: 5mm / US 8 Circular needle (80cm-150cm)

Notions: 12 stitch markers (or reflective of your cast on number) & unique BOR marker. Cable Needle, similar in size to your chosen needle. Tapestry needle / crochet hook to weave in ends.

Gauge: 4” (10 cm) on 5 mm / US 8 needles (after blocking)

18 sts & 40 rounds in Garter stitch

Incorrect Gauge can affect finished measurements / yarn usage.

Finished measurements:

Circumference: 18” / 46cm Laying Flat: 9” / 23cm

Depth: 9” / 23cm
