Reverie Socks Pattern (digital download)
Reverie Socks (Please note: This listing is for a digital pattern.)
Reverie socks are full of energy—a cuff-down design that celebrates color and texture, featuring twisted rib, vertical stripe colorwork, bobbles, and a short-row garter-stitch heel. These socks use just two colors of yarn with short repeats, making the colorwork a cinch for experienced knitters and accessible to adventurous beginners. This pattern includes inverse versions of all the charts and a photo tutorial for the heel section.
Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4)
Finished foot circumference (unstretched):
6½ (7½, 8½, 9½)” / 16.5 (19, 21.5, 24)cm. Socks are designed to fit with ½–¾” / 1.5–2cm negative ease.
Yarn A: approx. 110 (130, 150, 170)yds / 100 (120, 140, 155)m of fingering / 4-ply-weight yarn
Yarn B: approx. 125 (160, 200, 250)yds / 115 (145, 185, 225)m of fingering / 4-ply-weight yarn
Gauge: 34 sts & 40 rounds = 4” / 10cm in stockinette and stranded colorwork worked in the round on 2.25mm needles, after blocking.
Needles: 2.25mm / US 1 knitting needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round. Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.
Notions: 2 stitch markers (including one distinct for beg of round), scrap yarn, tapestry needle
Notes: For the best fit, knit socks ½” / 1cm shorter than actual foot length. The garter stitch heel is denser than a stockinette heel, so it requires more short rows, but it results in a more hard-wearing heel.
Samples are shown in Kindred Red Rad Sock (fingering / 4-ply-weight; 75% superwash Merino, 25% nylon; 463yds / 423m per 100g skein). Sample 1 uses Sulfur Springs Eternal (yarn A) and Lavender + Lightning (yarn B). Sample 2 uses Paloma (yarn A) and Crystalline (yarn B).
