Little Bible Explorers: Joshua and the Brave New Beginning | Digital Edition
What comes next for Joshua? Join Eli, Maya and Mum as they begin a new part of the Bible story. Moses has died, and God gives Joshua the responsibility of leading the people of Israel across the River Jordan.
God tells Joshua to be strong and courageous, promises to be with him, and instructs him to remember and follow the law Moses gave him. Joshua is to think deeply about these words by day and by night and put them into practice. The river crossing has not happened yet in this book.
Original-series-style illustrations accompany this selected retelling. Separate fictional garden scenes show Eli asking to help care for a little plant. Mum makes room for his worry, shows him how to check the soil and helps him practise. Maya draws a reminder picture. They can keep learning a little at a time, with help close by.

READING TOGETHER
The opening briefly names Moses’s death to connect with Book 36. No death, burial, mourning or battle scene is illustrated. This selected retelling introduces Joshua’s instructions before the river crossing, rather than retelling the whole chapter or the conquest story.
Grown-up notes explain the conquest context and the particular promises to Joshua. The book does not present these promises as permission to take other people’s belongings or as guarantees of wealth, perfect results or freedom from danger. Eli’s plant-care task is a separate modern scene, not an equivalent responsibility.
Courage can include worry, asking for help, taking time and choosing a safer option. Make room for feelings and questions. Children can speak, point, draw, use communication aids or simply listen. Prayer and activities are invitations, not requirements. The two activities use paper and suitable crayons with a grown-up. For real plant care, choose a suitable non-toxic plant, check its particular needs, supervise and wash hands afterwards.
Modern scenes are fictional; ancient settings and the characters’ appearance are imaginative. AI-assisted illustrations selected and reviewed for this edition.
