Jack Standards, Birkdale Ridge – Canvas Print
Standing high on Birkdale Ridge above Hartley Moor, the twin cairns of Jack Standards have watched over travellers crossing these upland landscapes for centuries. Built upon a raised limestone shelf level with Coldbergh Scar, the two stone towers form one of the most recognisable landmarks on the eastern section of Wainwright’s Coast to Coast route.
Photographed from Tailbridge Road, this striking image captures the cairns silhouetted against the open skies of the upper Eden Valley, revealing both their isolation and their enduring presence within the Yorkshire Dales and Westmorland border country.
