Bricelet

Bricelet has been designed for the first issue of Pause magazine.

I have imagined a cardigan, which could be worn for a snack in a field, among flowers. A light cardigan, easy to wear, with a elegant touch. This reminded me the wafer we used to eat as children. So I came up with a design reminiscent of the criss-cross pattern on wafers. Bricelets are thin, crispy wafers made in Switzerland in particular; they are decorated with patterns printed by irons.

In my cardigan, this pattern can be found on the upper front and upper back, in a rounded shape on the front, and in a sailor collar style on the back.

This cardigan is knitted from the bottom up, in one piece up to the armholes, then separately for the front and back. Once the shoulders are joined, you pick up stitches on the armholes to knit the sleeves. I wanted the sleeves to be fairly wide, so that the cardigan would be comfortable and you wouldn’t be restricted in your movements.

Bricelet is available in 9 sizes, from 75 cm / 29.5 inches to 155 cm / 61 inches.

You will need 1150 (1200) 1300 (1400) 1500 (1600) 1700 (1800) 1900 meters / 1260 (1310) 1420 (1530) 1640 (1750) 1860 (1970) 2080 yards of fingering yarn, and 9 buttons.

J’ai imaginé un gilet qu’on porterait pour aller faire un goûter dans l’herbe, au milieu des fleurs. Un gilet léger, facile à porter, mais avec une touche d’élégance. Cette histoire de goûter dans l’herbe m’a rappelé les gaufrettes de mon enfance. J’ai donc conçu un motif rappelant les croisillons des gaufrettes. Les bricelets sont des sortes de gaufrettes tout fines et croustillantes qu’on fabrique notamment en Suisse; elles sont ornées de motifs imprimés par des fers.

Dans mon gilet, on retrouve ce motif sur le haut du devant et le haut du dos, en arrondi sur le devant, et façon col marin sur le dos.

Ce gilet se tricote de bas en haut, en une seule pièce jusqu’aux emmanchures, puis séparément pour les devants et le dos par la suite. Une fois les épaules jointes, on relève des mailles sur les emmanchures pour tricoter les manches. J’ai voulu ces manches assez amples, afin que le gilet soit bien confortable et qu’on ne soit pas gêné dans ses mouvements.

Bricelet est disponible en 9 tailles, du 75 au 155 de tour de poitrine.

Pour le tricoter, il vous faudra 1150 (1200) 1300 (1400) 1500 (1600) 1700 (1800) 1900 mètres de fil fingering et 9 boutons.
