Little Bible Explorers: Moses and the Bread from Heaven | Digital Edition
A hungry people. A surprising morning. A special day of rest.
What does it mean to have enough - and to care that others have enough, too?
After leaving Elim, Moses and the people travel into the wilderness. The families are hungry and afraid. God hears them. Quail arrive in the evening, and the next morning brings tiny pale flakes on the ground. The people call this unfamiliar food manna. They learn to gather according to need, prepare ahead and pause for the seventh-day Sabbath.
In a separate present-day story, Eli worries there will not be enough food on the family snack tray. Mum listens and helps him and Maya make a caring plan. After eating together, they enjoy a little rest.

WHO IS IT FOR?
Children aged 3-8 with parents, carers or teachers who have read the grown-up notes first. Share during family Bible reading, home learning or guided Sunday school. Younger children can explore the pictures, while older children can discuss the questions and read the Bible passage with an adult.
A NOTE FOR GROWN-UPS
Please read Exodus 16 and the book's grown-up notes before sharing. This gentle retelling selects the arrival of quail and manna, gathering according to need, preparing a double portion and Sabbath rest. It does not dramatise the spoiled manna, disobedience, rebukes, preserved jar or forty-year time span. It does not replace the full Bible account.
Children's hunger and tiredness deserve practical care. Adults provide appropriate food, safe preparation and attention to dietary needs. Fair portions need not be identical, and children should not be pressured to give away food they need. Prayer can accompany action; this book does not promise that food will always appear miraculously.
The manna instructions belong to this Bible account, not modern food-storage guidance. Never encourage children to gather or taste unknown plants, seeds or flakes. The activities use paper, drawing and a grown-up-supported pause.
Sabbath is a holy seventh-day rest in this account and remains important in Jewish life. The modern family's pause makes a gentle connection about rest; it is not a definition of Sabbath. Faith traditions practise rest in different ways.
Bible focus: selected events from Exodus 16, read in its wider context. Eli, Maya and Mum are fictional present-day characters. Ancient clothes, landscapes and settings are artistic interpretations. Illustrations were created with AI assistance and reviewed for this edition.
